Information for "Pro-Se" Individuals Filing for Bankruptcy

  1. All filings must be submitted to the clerk’s office in person or by mail. Filings sent through e-mail or fax will not be accepted pursuant to Local Rule 5005-1.
  2. Required forms for filing bankruptcy are updated from time to time. The most recent forms can be obtained from the Court’s website. A list of required forms to file for bankruptcy can be found on the Required Lists, Schedules, Statements, and Fees. Petition packages can also be obtained at the Clerk’s Office for $8.00.
  3. A fee is required to file for bankruptcy. Filing fees can be found on the court’s fee schedule. The court accepts cash (exact change only), money orders or cashier checks.
  4. You must complete a credit counseling course within 180 days prior to the date of filing and submit your certificate at the time of filing your petition. A list of authorized Credit Counseling Agencies can be obtained from the Court’s website or the Clerk’s office.
  5. At the time of filing, photo identification is required along with an completed Acknowledgement of Photo ID Requirement form.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS MAY RESULT IN DISMISSAL OR THE CLOSING OF YOUR CASE WITHOUT A DISCHARGE.
